Please select your ability level when booking according to the guidelines below. Lessons will be conducted by our experienced instructors according to each participant’s skill level, so it’s important to ensure that the session you choose best matches your current ability.

This will help you get the most out of your lesson, whether you’re a beginner learning the basics or an advanced rider looking to refine your technique.

Ability Level - Ski

Level Ability Slope Speed Objectives
First Timer First Time Skiing. Available once per student. 0%-20% Equipment familiarisation. Booting up, clipping in, basic stance and edging. Introduction to snowplough.
Beginner Have done at least 1 session at First Traxx and/or the mountain. Can hold a basic stance in snowplough at the safety bar. Starting to turn and stop in snowplough and hold position while slope is in motion. 20%-40% Learning to turn and stop with confidence in snowplough. Learning to control position on the slope using edging and pressure. Transition to stepping into parallel skiing.
Intermediate Can do confident turns and stops in snowplough and starting to step into parallel skiing. Confident on green slopes and some blue/red slopes. 40%-80% Getting confident with parallel skiing and learning how to make smaller turns with consistent timing. Hockey stops.
Advanced Confident high speed Parallel turns at medium inclines. Confident with most terrain on the mountain. 70%-100% Skill improvement and refining technique. Developing relevant muscle groups and maintaining muscle memory for improved coordination.

Ability Level - Snowboard

Level Ability Slope Speed Objectives
First Timer First Time Snowboarding. Available once per student. 0%-20% Equipment familiarisation. Booting up, strapping in, basic stance on heel and edging.
Beginner Have done at least 1 session at First Traxx and/or the mountain. Can hold heel edge at the safety bar and start to effect direction changes. Falling leaf and starting to learn toe edge. 20%-40% Gaining confidence in Heel slides and toe slides on and away from the safety bar. Basic J-turns. Working on single turns from heel and toe.
Intermediate Can hold heel and toe edges. Starting to do J-turns and C-turns on both edges and linking 2 turns. Confident on green and some blue/red slopes on the mountain. 40%-80% Confidence in Heel edge and Toe edge slides. Confident J-turns and leading to C-turns. Beginning to link turns leading to confident turns.
Advanced Linking turns at high speed at medium to steep inclines. Confident with most terrain on the mountain. 70%-100% Skill improvement and refining technique. Improving shape and size of turns. Consistency of edging, pressure, rebound and timing. Developing relevant muscle groups and maintaining muscle memory for improved coordination.
